Security Services Manager – Job Description:
The Security Services Manager (SSM) serves as a point of contact between the client and IBM Security Services for operational governance of MSS security services activities and deliverables.
The SSM works with the client to provide governance, oversight, and leadership for MSS operational security activities including, but not limited to, understanding change requests, tuning, SLA/Service Quality metrics, and processes as required.
The SSM is also made aware of any major client projects that may impact or be security related and is also be informed of critical situations so that the SSM may act as a point of clarity in the midst of an emergency situation.
Note - Responsibilities, activities, and deliverables will scale and differ with the scope of the Security Services Manager via each client contract.
Account Management:
  • Participate in security meetings to provide input to align the solution to support client's services considering:
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Risk Management
  • Asset Protection
  • Business Enablement
  • Act as a liaison with other IBM teams (billing, sales, contract Mgmt, deployment, etc.)
  • Understand current and future client security priorities to recognize potential scope expansions; identify gaps in service or new client requirements
  • Measure deviations from established contract baselines on a monthly basis and initiate, as appropriate, Project Change Requests via the appropriate project change control procedure
  • Monitor contract compliance by both parties
  • Work jointly with the client to manage the priority of new event source deployment when applicable to the service
  • Act as an advisor in technology roadmap discussions

Communication and Leadership:
  • Provide governance, oversight, and leadership for MSS operational security activities including, but not limited to, understanding changes requests, tuning, SLA/Service Quality metrics, and processes as required
  • Act as a trusted security advisor and proactively communicate security news, including newly discovered threats and vulnerabilities, industry updates, and events or applicable security webcasts
  • Communicate issues, requests and status directly with MSS senior management
  • Participate in MSS operational cadence calls with stakeholders
  • Provide visibility and leadership to MSS and client in critical situations and sensitive projects
  • Coordinate, review, and deliver root cause analyses for MSS service delivery defects
  • Establish and maintain communications with the client point of contact with activities such as daily/weekly status calls, status reports, etc.
  • Document all communications and agreements with the client that are related to MSS operational and security activities for historical tracking purposes
  • Coordinate escalations and engage the appropriate delivery teams to satisfy client needs
  • Coordinate operational portal training
  • Lead periodic status meetings with the appropriate internal and client stakeholders
Deliverables & Reporting:
  • Produce and conduct periodic Security Services operational review teleconferences or on-site meetings, per contractual agreements, with client key stakeholders to review the contents of a monthly governance report and that illustrate the value IBM brings to the client
  • Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly reports, and quarterly executive level reviews that illustrate the value IBM brings to the client as agreed per client governance schedule
  • Responsible for the creation and delivery of the MSIEM runbook with input of the Transition Team, and the subsequent maintenance of same with updates and delivery to the appropriate client point of contact throughout the contract term
  • Responsible for the creation, delivery and maintenance of the MSIEM Communications Plan to the client point of contact and making updates as required throughout the contract term to ensure IBM personnel contact information is current
  • Perform periodic security contact reviews and update account information on a regular basis, including VSOC Portal accessibility in coordination with client point of contact

  • Education
    • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience
    • Field of Study: MIS/CIS/CS or other technology fields.
  • Required
    • Basic Knowledge in IT system administration
    • Basic knowledge in performing system security assessments
    • Readiness to travel up to 40%; traveling 2 days a week
    • Spanish: Fluent
    • English: Fluent
  • Preferred
    • At least 1 year experience in IT system administration
    • At least 6 months experience in Performing system security assessments
    • At least 6 months experience in Trending/Threat Analysis Report Writing
    • Certified CISSP
    • Certified in GIAC
    • Certified in GCIH
    • Certified in GSEC
